Baptism is one of the ways that you let people know that you believe in Jesus and it is one of your first steps to follow Jesus.

Here's why.  Baptism is a picture of what you believe about Jesus.  When you are baptized, you are dipped back under the water and then raised back up out of the water.  As you go under the water, you show others that you believe Jesus died for you. When you come out of the water, you show others you believe that God raised Jesus to life and has given you a new life. You can celebrate your new life because of Jesus!

Baptism and believing do not mean you will always live a perfect life. There will be times in your life when you will sin and make wrong choices. Remember, baptism is only showing everyone else that you believe Jesus is your Savior.

As you talk to your kid(s) about what it means to be baptized, use these questions as a guide.

• Why does baptism matter?
• What am I showing when I get baptized?
• When would you like to get baptized?
• Who would you like to invite to see you get baptized?
