Oct 16: Jesus and the Sinful Woman
Bible Passage: Galatians 5:22, John 8:1-11
Big Idea: Gentleness is a fruit of the Spirit
Leader Context: Gentleness is a fruit of the Spirit. In John 8:1-11, the religious leaders tried to trap Jesus by bringing a woman who was caught in sin. The law said she should be stoned to death. Jesus handles the situation with gentleness, not condoning the sin but sending her accusers away and treating her gently. Gentleness can seem weak to some of us. In a world that values strength and courage, gentleness can seem so mild. Jesus’ gentleness wasn’t weak. It empowered Him to handle a tough situation in a way that showed care and compassion. It took courage and strength for Jesus to be so gentle. How can each of you move a little closer to showing gentleness at school, home and in the community?
