Sept 18: Jacob waits for Rachel
Bible Passage: Galatians 5:22, Genesis 29:1-30
Big Idea: Patience is a fruit of the Spirit
Leader Context: Patience is a fruit of the Spirit. Patience is particularly difficult for kids. In a world where instant gratification is highly prized, patience doesn’t seem like an appealing fruit. Jacob falls in love with Rachel, he makes a deal to work for her dad for seven years so he can marry her, from Genesis 29:1-30. In this story, we see Jacob struggled with patience as he waited on God and Rachel’s dad. Kids don’t always get what they want immediately. We get to help them see how God can help them have patience when they need to wait. Sometimes we all have to wait on each other before we can do the next thing on our schedule. Your attitude in the waiting can set the tone for how everyone responds.
